We are looking for a hard worker who will provide support and assistance to Healthcare Professionals within all areas of the Trust.

The role will be to work under the direction of the Logistics Team Leader and are primarily concerned with the movement of goods and services in the most efficient and effective way, using the correct lifting and handling equipment.


The post holder will be responsible for providing a high quality service from designated destinations as directed, maintaining high standards of service delivery and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff and visitors at all times.

They will be responsible for ensuring the electric vehicle meets the daily demands of this service.


The post holder will be based at either the City or QMC campus which will include cross-town working as required.


Listed below is the range of services predominantly covered by the scope of the job description and as directed by the Logistics Team Leader on a daily basis; some of which may only be pertinent to either one or both campuses.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring all the hospitals entrances are kept clean and free from debris, including the removal of all types of waste materials i.e., cardboard, glass, clinical and confidential waste, and sharps.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Respond to all out of hour's requests from Medical Equipment Library for the delivery and collection of all medical equipment including beds and mattresses to all wards and departments.
  • The post holder will be expected to assist with the deliveries of patient's meal trolleys including bread and milk deliveries, and other stores deliveries across the Trust including adhoc linen requests and the collection of dirty instruments from wards and departments which need to be returned to Sterile Services for reissue.
  • Collect soiled linen from all wards and departments and deliver to the designated storage areas for later collection by Transport.
  • Collect clean linen from the designated storage areas and deliver to all wards.
  • Undertake specific site cleaning both internally and externally as directed by the Team Leaders, wearing appropriate protective equipment where necessary.
  • Clear all corridors, wards and departments of empty cardboard boxes, glass, sharps, clinical, domestic and food waste, and place in the designated containers.
  • Collect confidential waste as required by each ward and department, place bags in a stillage and take to central stores for later collection by Transport.
  • Collect dirty surgical implements from all wards and departments and deliver to Sterile Services.
  • Receive all incoming mail for the Trust.
  • Sign and receive all courier and/or recorded special delivery mail.
  • Stamp and record into the daily postage dockets all packet post mail. Prepare postal documents for online business accounts. Record all business mail into the daily postage dockets, segregating 1st and 2nd class packets.
  • Ensure that the post room is kept clean and tidy and secure at all times.
  • Assist with the delivery of medical gases, distribute pharmaceuticals
  • Assist other staff with their duties such as furniture removal etc.
  • Safe use of equipment used personally; appropriate use of expensive/highly complex equipment e.g. electric vehicles.
  • To maintain electric vehicles and equipment
  • A basic knowledge of Health & Safety is required
  • Radios are to be collected from the Coordinators office at the start of every shift, ensuring they are switched on and fully charged.
  • To adopt a flexible approach in response to operational needs regarding duties and hours of work.
  • Assist Patient Escort with patient movement as and when required.
