Description

Reed Talent Solutionsare currently working with a Basingstoke based NHS Trust to recruit a Fire Safety Manager on a (6-9 month) fixed-term basis. The post-holder will be be responsible for the delivery of the Trust's Fire Safety ManagementSystem, including line-management of two Fire Safety Officers, to address engineering and managerial issues to drive reduction in the level of Fire Safety Risk at trust sites so as to reduce the potential for harm to patients, staff and visitors.


Role Information

  • 69 month FTC
  • Salary: £48,526 £65,262

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret legislation and guidance in order to develop, and then implement or assist others with the implementation of Trustwide fire strategy and safe systems of work
  • Provide specialist advice on fire safety to executive directors, directors and senior managers and act as a focal point for all departments, and other service users within the Trust
  • Identify the Trust's status in regards to compliance with current and future fire legislation and guidance, to escalate nonconformities via assurance meetings and to the Trust Board of Directors
  • Put in place/ recommend corrective actions and forecast resources required. This will involve the analysis of complex information and the comparison and recommendation of options to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develop, maintain and take strategic ownership of monitoring and reporting tools that will be used to demonstrate actions that are required to ensure compliance to fire regulations
  • Take strategic ownership for fire policies / procedures / training / risk assessments and audits. Ensure inspections against the current policies and procedures are undertaken to ensure they are being adhered to, escalating the findings as required
  • Ensure the fire team work collaboratively with estates, facilities, clinical teams and other external stakeholders on day to day issues
  • Ensure processes are in place for the fire team to comment and advise on capital developments and projects to ensure that fire safety is incorporated

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of Fire Safety Management systems and legislation
  • Experience of carrying out Fire Risk Assessments and managing the delivery of remedial actions
  • Knowledge of risk management theory and techniques
  • Ability to use judgement to decide on the appropriate level of technical involvement and expertise for a given situation i.e. Authorising Engineer (Fire), Fire Safety Manager, Fire Safety Officer
