Finance Director
To be responsible for an efficient and accurate financial management service, including the monitoring of actuals against budget.
To contribute to the Trust's long-term strategic development and planning. Work closely with the Headteacher and have responsibilityfor all financial and operational matters affecting individual schools and the Trust.

Main Purpose of Job:

The Director of Finance will:

- lead on strategic, financial issues of all aspects of the Trust;
- provide an accurate and timely financial management service, including support in the setting and monitoring of budgets and forecasts;
- production of management and financial accounts;
- ensure that the financial and operational systems, processes, and functions are compliant, efficient, reliable, and quality assured through effective policies and internal controls;
- be responsible for all internal and external audit preparation and carrying out recommended actions;
- lead on the closure of the accounts and the preparation of the annual statement of accounts;
- produce clear, concise, professionally researched policies, plans and reports;
- monitor business and financial performance against expectations and external benchmarks through systematic quality assurance, self-evaluation, and planning;

Lead on financial aspects of the Trust's Risk Management Strategy, including the updating and communication of the Trust Risk Register;
Proactively managing the cash position of the Trust and its operating activities and reporting regularly on tis aspect of financial management to the Trust Board;
The post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated, at the discretion of the Executive Head and to meet the needs of the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualification and Training:

Essential:

Have a professional accountancy qualification ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA
Possess good communication and literacy skills

Experience:

Essential:

Senior financial management and strategic leadership either in the public, private sectors
Excellent IT skills and the ability to use PS Financials software packages or similar systems.
A proven track record of successful financial leadership and building and managing effective teams
Experience of working with external auditors and agencies
Experience in the preparation and presentation of management accounts
Experience of rigorous monitoring and control procedures
Evidence of leading and managing budgets, and working with colleagues to develop strong financial understanding
Have high ethical standards
Demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to manage risk

Salary range: £50,906 to £55,564 P.A dependant on experience
