About the Employer
Stansfield Academy is an Alternative Provision Academy providing full-time education for children from 4-16 years of age.

We cover Central Devon including Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon and work closely with Devon County Council to ensure a swift transition both into and out of the Academy to minimise the impact of any transition on the learning of those young people.

Overview of the role:
The main purpose of Job is to provide clerical support to the Principal and Senior Administrator.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake typing/word processing of correspondence, standard letters, reports, publications and other documents as required by the Principal and Senior Administrator.
  • To undertake photocopying and document collation as requested.
  • To undertake filing in accordance with the established systems as requested.
  • To work within and maintain all established administrative systems and procedures.
  • To input new and updated information on the Academy's computerised system for pupils' records, and ensure all records are maintained and up to date.
  • To assist in the production of reports, lists and other information relating to pupils' records as requested.
  • To welcome visitors to the academy, ensuring signing in procedures are followed, receiving and prioritising incoming telephone calls, dealing with them appropriately including accurately recording messages as required.
  • To liaise with staff, Governors, pupils, parents and outside agencies as and when required.
  • To open, sort and distribute incoming mail to the academy in a timely manner.
  • To be aware of and adhere to applicable rules, regulations, legislation and procedures including the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Conduct, national legislation (including Health and Safety, Data Protection).
  • To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for the department.

Apprenticeship Summary:

  • You will work towards your Level 3 Business Administration qualification across a total duration of 18 months
  • All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release
  • An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship

Skills & Personal Qualities Required:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Word and Windows
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with mínimal supervision.

Qualifications Required:

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) essential

Experience Required:

  • Front office experience is preferred
  • Some practical administrative work experience is essential
  • Customer service experience is preferred

The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.
