You can be based out of our London, Birmingham, or Whitely office. Regular travel to our London office will be required.


Package:
Competitive salary + £7,608 car allowance + 20% bonus opportunity

The opportunity:

This is a brand-new role, created as a result of a structure change for a Head of Pricing, reporting directly into the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

We're looking for a strategic leader with proven experience of managing and leading a team and with a keen eye for utilising data and technology.

As the Head of Pricing, you'll lead a team of 50 based in the UK.

This role will sit in the underwriting leadership team and help shape the continuous improvement of the pricing team. Requiring a broad commercial lines focus, this role requires someone with demonstrable leadership, change and engagement skills.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead pricing strategy for the UK, including setting the direction and strategic and tactical development plans for pricing tools, pricing models, pricing data and analysis, and implement the actuarial components of the agreed strategy
  • Lead pricing governance for UK ensuring delivery of pricing activities within UK and group guidelines and ensuring compliance with FCA, CBI and other regulator pricing rules
  • Lead pricing research & development, delivering thought leadership for managed portfolios, including predictive modelling
  • Accountable for necessary pricing analysis and pricing oversight for UK written product lines and types of business
  • Collaborate with and influence Market Facing and Underwriting teams on strategic portfolio and individual account pricing decisions
  • Ensure that pricing models and tools are updated and maintained regularly in order to reflect market developments and to meet Underwriting governance requirements
  • Provide direction and/or strategic support for implementation of model price, rate revisions, rate development, competitor benchmarking, rate proposals for case and portfolio rated business
  • Lead, mentor and develop department of actuarial professionals, providing input to or leading global training and people development initiatives; implement talent management and succession planning; lead a team with one or more reporting levels; responsible for function budget
  • Key Member of the Underwriting Leadership team

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified actuary
  • Given the refocus of the Zurich UK strategy, commercial pricing experience is key.
  • Experience of supporting complex portfolios such as London Market and specialty business desired but this isn't essential
  • Strong leadership skills both people leadership and cross functional leadership across our key stakeholder groups
  • Strategic thinking ability and commerciality the ability to look across both the market and the Zurich portfolios to plan and develop our pricing capabilities and strategy to support delivery of the MFU go to market strategy and business plan
  • Drive for change to be able to lead the pricing and underwriting teams use of data and advanced analytic techniques to make a real difference to our pricing activities
  • Collaborative working this is a role that contributes to the delivery of our performance. The ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders with underwriting, finance, reserving and MFU stakeholders is key
  • Clear communicator ability to take complex methods, analysis and ideas and communicate effectively to broad variety of stakeholders

What happens next?
The process will consist of a first stage competency-based interview.

On successful completion of stage one, a Psychometric and reasoning assessment will be required followed by a second interview focused on development areas from assessment and the first stage notes.
