This is an apprenticeship post.

The post holder will be responsible for a comprehensive admin support for the new Alder Hey Clinical Research Development Program and will undertake a range of admin and clerical duties.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Professor Lead and will be required to work flexibly to ensure the needs of the service are met.

The post holder will complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard with Wirral Met College and study for at least 6 hours of their working hours with the college and at their place of work.

For those individuals joining the Trust to undertake an apprenticeship, it is expected that the apprenticeship be fully completed.

If the post holder does not complete the apprenticeship, this would be in breach of both this agreement and the role and the employment contract may be terminated.

This is an annex 21 post.

65% of the top of band 3 for the 1st year, 70% of the top of band 3 for the 2nd year and then 75% of the top of band 3 for the 3rd year.

If this takes the salary under national minimum wage, it will be topped up to comply with the national minimum wage


Annex A:
Eligibility criteria(who we fund)

UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have an eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship


Main duties will be to:


  • Collate and maintain a list of all NAHPS undertaking MScs and PhDs in the Trust
  • Advertise, plan and coordinate educational activities and share information
  • Act as the first point of contact for NAHP research in Alder Hey
  • Organise educational events/conferences/study days
  • Work with IT Team and CRD to develop a link to a dedicated webpage for NAHP research
  • Be able to work with the professor lead to manage the budget
  • Keep a record of and monitor progress of all internships, PCAFs and ECRDF at Alder Hey annually and chase them up to provide annual updates on their progress
  • To maintain record of research active NAHPs in the Trust and their research activity, outputs and career trajectory
  • Populate the research metrics framework annually from all the above


Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year.

In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park building in the nearby borough of Sefton.

We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites.

We're also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

Main duties and Responsibilities

Communication

  • To take an active part in team meetings, take notes from meetings and contribute to and comment on proposals relating to relevant policies for work are
Analytical skills

  • Ensure accurate and appropriate action is taken with regards to all clinical data and information
  • To use own initiative within the remit of the pos
Planning and organising skills

  • To prioritise workload ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely fashion to meet deadlines if required
  • To independently manage and prioritise own workload
  • Effective time management as there will be an expectation that the post holder will have to complete some of the apprenticeship work in their own time in addition to studying for at least 6 hours of their working hours
Physical skills

  • The post holder will be required to have frequent use of a VDU screen for data entry
  • The post holder will require good keyboard skill
Responsibility for customer care

  • Deal with all enquiries from staff and clients in a confidential and professional manne
Responsibility for policy/service development

  • To comply with all Trust and local departmental policies and procedures
  • To be responsible for the general housekeeping of own work area, as well as departmental common areas, reporting any faulty or broken equipment and adhering to the Trust Risk Management Strategy
  • Undergo all statutory/mandatory training as and when required
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of oneself, as well as others
  • Adhere to Trust risk management policies to ensure a safe working environment
  • The post holder is required to comply with the Trust policies on infection prevention and control, bringing any deficiencies to the attention of the Line Manager
