Job Title:
Membership Officer


Reports to:
Communications & Marketing Manager


Location:48-54 West Street, St Philips, Bristol BS2 0BL

Job Purpose:


1. Main Functions of Post

  • Support and retain membership by encouraging involvement through engagement and networking and facilitate growth and sustainability.
  • Act as a key point of contact for members ensuring that requests are actioned appropriately.
  • Maintain and update accurate membership information through the database, website, and any other administrative systems.
  • Ownership of the yearly membership renewal process including all member communication with regards to finance and marketing documents
  • Review and implement membership engagement plan. Maintenance and improvement of services offered to members that are valued, responsive, and practicable.
  • Grow and develop membership services and organise them to enhance member satisfaction.
  • Manage and update membership promotional materials (membership information pack, membership benefits, membership certificates)
  • Support to coordinate and inform membership events (annual conference, regional roadshows, AGM) and ensure pre
- and post-communications including collation and review of feedback

  • Provide annual report on activities and changes within the membership to inform senior management team.
  • Monitor and evaluate sector direction and support members through planning and project development.
  • Provide full administrative support to Network Manager and other staff members as directed.
  • Respond to all enquiries from members, partners, and other parties in a satisfactory manner, and proactively seek opportunities to promote the work and membership of the Reuse Network
  • Maintain accurate membership records and organise correspondence as required.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the office

Including co-ordination of:
o Department equipment, maintenance, purchase, and security o Department filing systems both paper and electronic o Support the maintenance of the Reuse Network Membership database, membership renewal and enquiries systems o Purchasing and operation procedures to meet the requirements of the Reuse Network's Sustainable

2. Qualifications

  • English & Maths GCSE or equivalent

3. Knowledge

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of general office procedures within a busy office environment.

4. Skills and Experience (Essential)

  • Understanding of membership organisations and networks
  • Proficient in the use of IT Systems including Microsoft Office packages
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly with a range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Experienced in setting up and maintaining manual and electronic filing systems.
  • Ability to run database systems for managing membership, contact accounts and other transactions
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and demonstrate a methodical, organised, and flexible approach to work.

5. Skills and Experience (Desirable)

  • Experience of working in a small to medium sized social enterprise or charity organisation
  • Strong monitoring and evaluation skills
