The Company

Able Bridge Recruitment are currently patterning with a prestigious and rapidly growing engineering business in the heart of Dundee city centre.

The bookkeeper post has become vacant due to the role holder making a career move in a none finance related capacity.


The position will be reporting into the owners of the business, however there is a qualified accountant who works for the business on a parttime basis.

The role will ideally be officed based 5 days per week and will in essence a stand alone post.

The organisation have grown massively over the last 5 years and are expanding into international territories.


The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide the owners of the business and the finance manager with accounting support in the form of bookkeeping.

You will be ensuring that costs associated with specific projects are accurately posted to the correct cost centre, liaising with suppliers over invoices to be paid, raising invoices for specific projects that are being worked on.

In addition you will be responsible for the monthly payroll of the company and chasing creditors who's invoices are falling out of agreed payment terms.


On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Liaise with engineering staff regarding costs incurred on specific projects and allocating these to the relevant cost centre.
Ensure invoices are accurately raised within agreed timelines, posting these invoices onto Sage.
Allocation of cash receipts.
Reconciliation of bank accounts.
Prepare the financial accounts to trial balance for the review of the head of finance.
Maintain the purchase ledger including processing invoices/oversee electronic invoice feed.
Presenting payment run details to the managing director for payment approval.
Reconciling supplier statements to ensure payments are processed within agreed timelines.
Payroll of wages and expenses for all of the companies employees (including directors).
Credit control customers who have not paid their invoices within agreed timeframes.


The Requirements

We are seeking a proactive and experienced bookkeeper who can maintain the accounts for our client on a day by days basis.

We do not need the successful applicant to be a qualified accountant, however we are expecting the individual to have at least 5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience.

You will be working closely with operational staff so good clear communication skills are essential. Experience of working with Sage accounts is also required by the business. Our client in based in central Dundee and is easily accessible by public transport and by car.


This role is not suitable for applicants who require sponsorship or who do not have experience of working in the UK.
