Job Purpose

The business insights team at GSK will provide you a unique platform for success and is industry leading in both the UK and across the wider region.

With bespoke specialities in data science, market research and reporting your role will be to harness these resources to deliver world class insights.

In recent times the team has grown in size, capability and performance and is critical to driving UK performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the business to make the best, informed, strategic and tactical decisions by using your own analytical skill and commercial judgment or drawing on expert resources in the Business Insights team
  • Reviewing business performance, working to bring a clear view of critical indicators and using the results to raise questions and support or challenge strategy with the Specialty team
  • Leading the team to focus on performance by measuring success through designing, implementing and measuring input, lead and lag performance indicators
  • Proactively analysing relevant data (including activity, sales, market research, etc) to drive recommendations for business actions to improve performance
  • Work closely with data science, market research and reporting to deliver leading solutions for your stakeholders
  • Inputting/leading forecasting for each cycle and the annual brand planning process (in 3way team alongside Finance Partner, led by Brand Manager)
  • Advising the business through Sales Force Incentive scheme design & target setting (alongside Sales Force Incentive Manager)
  • Driving selfservice through usage of PowerBI apps
  • Acting as UK liaison with franchise analytics partners (alongside brand managers)
  • Leading engagement with 3rd party data suppliers for relevant products

Qualifications and capabilities

  • Analytical or insight skills and experience using analysis to solve business problems
  • Strong commercial judgment, and an instinct for identifying business questions and delivering complex answers simply, that can be interpreted by the business
  • Excellent teamworking skills, experience of working in cross functional teams/matrix teams
  • Ability to effectively visualise & present data for storytelling
  • Proficient in excel and/or other analytical software as well as Microsoft office
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills with the experience of turning insight into recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Selfstarter capable of rapidly building a network of strong relationships

Preferred experience

  • Commercial experience (marketing, sales, market access)
  • Experience with using and developing reports in a modern BI system (e.g. Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Demonstrated prior analytical capabilities (e.g., segmentation and targeting)
  • An understanding of / experience with sales forecasting
  • Ability to influence and challenge positively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of the NHS and UK healthcare system
  • Knowledge of IQVIA, NHS data sets (e.g., hospital pharmacy audit, primary care prescription data)
  • Awareness/use of open NHS data provided through NHS digital (e.g., hospital episode statics)
