Job summary:


This post is working for Headquarters Wattisham Flying Station (WFS), the Main Operating Base of the Army's Attack Helicopters (AH), near Ipswich A large, airfield, site the Station is the "home" for elements of 1st Aviation Brigade Combat Team (1AVN BCT)(Attack), 7 Aviation Support Battalion REME, 3 & 4 Regiments AAC and other lodger units.


The Role Cell Storekeeper is to ensure that all AH Role Equipment (RE) is correctly accounted for, maintained, serviced and controlled in accordance with current policy, regulations and the Compound Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (CIETP).

They are also responsible for the maintenance of the department Mechanical Handling Equipment, as well as other tasks as directed by the Role Cell SNCO.

They are to provide continuity of the department when military personnel are absent from their roles. This position key to the support of operations, exercise and daily flying operations on Station.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


  • Issue and receipts of RE to and from the Regiments and Sqns using the accurate procedures and documentation laid down in the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF).
  • Maintain an accurate record of RE held on account by quantity, serial number, serviceability and location DLF policy utilising the Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) Management Information System (MIS).
  • Ensure Role Equipment is serviceable and available for distribution as required by demands from AH Regiments and Sqns.
  • Maintain all databases and records as per requirement to maintain departmental functionality.
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies and partners to facilitate departmental objectives.
  • Carry out all vehicle husbandry in line with policy held in JSP 800 Volume 5 in relation to the department MHE, including Before Use Inspection (BUI) and After Use Inspection (AUI), recording of refuels and monthly hours returns on the FMT1001. Contact outside agency regarding repairs and inspections as the need arises.
  • Provide training on the how to use accurately and maintenance procedures for the RE to AH Sqns and endusers to maintain a high standard of equipment care.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety regulations are followed and adhered to, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct Complete Equipment Schedule (CES) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) checks when necessary and record results.
  • Provide support to military personnel when posted into the department in order to familiarise individuals on the procedures, policy and equipment held.
  • Report all building faults for all areas of responsibility and ensure repairs are hastened regularly.

Person specification:


  • In addition to the job description above we desire a person to be able & demonstrate good administrative and communication skills, be computer literate. Be prepared to undertake necessary training, which may involve a residential course.

Licences:


  • Must hold a Cat B driving Licence and be able to pass a coulour perception test as a prelim to securing an Airfield Driving Permit
