The Business & Innovation Partnerships (BIP) High Growth SME cluster supports UCLs engagement with innovative SMEs through innovation services. These services provide a platform for UCL spinouts, start-ups and associated SMEs to innovate, scale and grow internationally.


The development of partnerships with significant business and other enterprise-relevant organisations in London is an essential part of the delivery of UCL's Innovation and Enterprise, and engaging with SMEs who are likely to be innovating and using new technology, to grow and internationalise, is one key element of UCL's work with businesses in London.


As a key member of the Innovate UK EDGE Consortium led by Innovate UK, the objective of the UCL Innovate UK EDGE team is to work with a target group of innovative businesses (high-growth SMEs, startups and spinouts) with a view to increase their innovation management capacity, accessing finance, knowledge, skills, networks and customers to move a concept from the innovation to internationalisation.


About the role:

This role is an opportunity for a high calibre, experienced business professional to directly contribute to driving business innovation and growth in the UK


The jobholder will:

  • Identify ambitious high growth potential innovative SMEs in the London local ecosystem and support them in accelerating their journey to significantly grow and scale.
  • Play an important role in driving the Innovate UK "Place" agenda acting as an interface with accelerators, launchpads, freeports and/or other reginal clusters working alongside both Innovate UK EDGE Innovation & Growth Specialists colleagues and Scale-Up Directors, drawing heavily on local and national ecosystem partners.
