About the Trust


East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust provide services to the local community to around 500,000 people, with the regional cancer centre supporting around 2 million people.

They provide care to the community with an annual budget of around £350 million and more than 5,000 staff.


What you'll be responsible for:


  • Provide comprehensive secretariat support to nominated Board and Executive Committees including the coordination of meetings, preparation of agendas, recording of discussions and decisions during meetings, production of accurate and prompt minutes and ensuring follow up actions are taken.
  • Draft summary reports from the Board Committees to the Trust Board.
  • Ensure declarations of interest are made and noted.
  • Make an appropriate record of meetings by way of certified minutes, including an attentive and meticulous record of challenges made in the debate, decisions made and agreed actions.
  • Ensure that proper and effective systems and processes are in place for the filing and retrieval of all Board and Board committee papers and minutes.

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  • An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:


  • Excellent communication skills
- both verbal and written

  • Microsoft office skills
  • Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Previous committee meeting experience
  • Minute taking experience
  • Previous secretarial experinece within the NHS
