Description

Do you have what it takes to transform society?
We are currently looking for a talented and motivated
Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Groundwater Team.

This is an exciting time to join Sweco and if you want to be part of a company who is small in all the best ways but large enough to provide a diverse and exciting workload, this job is for you.

What does the role involve?

Working within a team environment you'll utilise your technical expertise to ensure the provision of a multi-disciplinary consultancy service for Sweco's clients working on the delivery of groundwater resources projects, from aquifer development, management and protection for public and private water supply to EIA and construction support for major infrastructure schemes and local developments.

Examples of projects that our groundwater team are working on at present include long-term pesticides, nitrates, saline intrusion and water resources investigations under water company Water Industry National Environment Programmes (WINEP).

We are also supporting major highways schemes, water companies and private developers on schemes across the country from the preliminary design and EIA stage through to construction, via the design and implementation of groundwater monitoring and testing programmes, groundwater flooding studies and dewatering assessment and permitting.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist you'll ensure that technical work including calculations, drawings, sketches, reports and site investigations are carried out correctly and completed to agreed timeframes, budgets and client expectations.

You'll utilise your technical expertise to develop services within existing clients, cultivate new clients, provide support and training to colleagues and assist in mentoring and developing others.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A BSc and preferably either a MSc or PhD in hydrogeology or a closely related discipline.
  • Have or be close to achieving chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as the Geological Society or CIWEM. IAH membership also desirable.
  • Significant relevant experience, primarily in water resources hydrogeology, engineering hydrogeology (including dewatering) and environmental impact assessment. Experience in borehole construction, rehabilitation, testing and abandonment is of benefit.
  • Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects.
  • The ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members, contractors and clients.
  • The ability to produce wellstructured reports in clear English, and to critically review reports produced by others.
  • The ability to maintain good links within the wider groundwater community to enhance technical knowledge, and to build and maintain contacts that may provide opportunities for collaboration or business development.

Join our team of Sweco Difference Makers today to work on a range of projects across a variety of clients including developers, contractors, local authorities and water companies, building up vast experience in collaborative working, joint ventures and high-profile multi-stakeholder projects.
