The Role

As our new Head of Data Privacy, you will play a key role in integrating privacy requirements into day-to-day operations at PRS for Music.


Partnering closely with the legal, risk, business, data, and technology teams, the Head of Data Privacy designs, implements and manages policies to ensure the appropriate and consistent implementation of data privacy obligations, controls and best practices in both project delivery and BAU.

The post holder will contribute to various programmes of work that are addressing gaps in data maturity across the full breadth of people, process, and technology.


In addition, the post holder will support Data Owners and Stewards on identifying and managing Data Privacy risks for projects, data sharing requests and other operational activities.

They will attend and contribute to the relevant Data Governance and Privacy forums and working groups.


Effective Data Privacy and Data Governance controls are core parts of PRS's strategic objectives and as such, the Head of Data Privacy, in partnership with the legal team, has an important role in supporting the organisation in translating legal and regulatory requirements into actionable implementation.


Responsibilities:


As our Head of Data Privacy, you will design, deliver and manage the vision, strategy and framework to ensure privacy controls are consistently and appropriately applied at PRS for Music across all business areas.

Some of your day to day duties will include.

  • Partner with the Legal team to ensure that legal advice and/or frameworks are provided for the Head of Data Privacy to integrate privacy requirements in daytoday operations.
  • Partner with the CIO Data Team and Data Governance to embed effective data privacy controls within the organisation, reviewing progress and instigating improvements to achieve best practice within PRS.
  • Partner with the Legal and Cyber teams to ensure that all Data Privacy artefacts and tools are appropriately developed and maintained.
  • Partner with the Risk team to ensure that risks are appropriately identified, monitored and addressed.
  • Support Data Owners and Data Stewards in the appropriate identification and management of Data Privacy risks.
  • Driving the ongoing usage and adoption of data privacy resources, tools and processes.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of new data tools, systems and processes from a Data Privacy perspective, defining success criteria against which they can be measured
  • Maintain expert knowledge of current Data Privacy regulation and best practice.

  • Prior experience in a lead data privacy and/ data governance role
  • CIPM certification or equivalent (e.g. CDMP).
  • Highly knowledgeable in data privacy, data classification, data regulation, governance and risk management.
  • Proven ability to build and lead effective teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with great attention to detail.
  • Be a selfstarter with good planning and time management skills who can work independently but also contribute as a team member within the Data Team and wider CIO group working collaboratively, sharing ideas and finding solutions.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and sometimes to tight deadlines.
  • An outline knowledge of related disciplines such as data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data architecture would be advantageous.
