Medicine Clinical Board are introducing a team of Health Care Support Workers to support the medical wards across our hospital sites, covering the University Hospital of Wales, Llandough, St Davids and Barry Community Hospitals.
The role will have a particular focus on the care of patients with cognitive impairment requiring enhanced supervision ; aiming to improve and enhance their hospital experience, working with the ward nursing team, the MDT and families to achieve this.
The role also require routine ward duties as Medicine Clinical Board recognises the need to ensure competence and respite from continuous enhanced supervision and you may need to support a ward in this manner.
Further training and education will be provided to support you in this role which will be review no an individual basis to align to your current skill levels.
The role will require you to work a variety of shifts days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays as per any ward roster.
Caring for patient who have cognitive impairment requiring enhanced supervision.
Working with the Ward Teams to provide a better experience for these patients, including engaging the patient(s) in meaningful activities to engage and stimulate them.
Work alongside the Ward MDT to help inform the care provided to these patients.
Act as a role model for more junior members of the nursing team, ensuring high standards are maintained.
Undertake routine ward duties as per the Job Description
Be a dynamic and integral member of the medicine Clinical Board, working across all 4 hospital sites, building. relationships with the wards.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
