Description
We are seeking a 1.0WTE Operational Manager for the Community Diagnostic Centres (Southlands, Falmer and Bognor).

The Community Diagnostic Centres are a national programme and focus on increasing diagnostic capacity for imaging (CT, x-ray, NOUS and MRI), respiratory, cardiac and phlebotomy.

The CDC programme in Sussex is managed by the ICS who have led a system wide approach to agreeing CDCs.

Southlands CDC is a hub CDC and will deliver the 7 nationally mandated tests.

It will be linked to three spokes:

Bognor University of Chichester which UHSussex will manage and deliver; Bognor War Memorial managed and delivered by Sussex Community FT; Falmer delivered by MIP (an independent sector provider) via a UHSussex subcontract.

The newly refurbished Southlands centre is due to open in summer 2023;

The post holder will provide operational leadership and management to the CDC and its associated workforce and services.

They will be responsible for ensuring all clinical and non-clinical performance indicators, targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards.


Working with the Divisional Management Team, the they will contribute to the development, delivery and translation of Divisional and Trust clinical service strategies, corporate and divisional objectives and the development and implementation of business plans and service developments (particularly in regards to Phase 2 of the CDC Programme).

The post holder will take a lead role in ensuring that quality, performance, CIP and budgetary targets are monitored and improvement plans are devised and implemented where necessary to enable compliance.

The post holder will be required to engender effective partnerships with all internal and system-wide external stakeholders and ensure effective liaison and partnership working with commissioners is developed and sustained

Personal Specification Summary

Essential Experience and qualifications

  • Extensive up to date knowledge of the NHS.
  • Experience in a senior operational management role.
  • Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering change and performance initiatives.
  • Experience driving strategic plans forward to the point of delivery, establishing clear work priorities, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback.
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Development Strategies and delivery of NHS Healthcare services.
  • Communicating and translating highly complex information to staff, the divisional board and other parts of the Trust and key stakeholders with clarity and positivity.
  • Mutidisciplinary and system wide working: collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues in the local health community to develop effective partnerships.

  • Project management qualification
  • Experience within primary care/systemwide NHS organisation
  • Experience of successful Pathway redesign in partnership with Primary Care Stakeholders
