Arriva Road Transport Services (ARTS) is a stand alone business unit reporting into Arriva UK Trains which is part of the Arriva Group, owned by Deutsche Bahn.

Arriva is a leading pan-European public transport operator with 54,500 employees and operations in 12 European countries.

ARTS oversee and manages all aspects of coaches, buses, taxis and coordinators which are provided for rail replacement, special events, school support and train crew support across the portfolio of customers within ARTS in both a pre-planned and on an emergency basis.


We are on the hunt for a new Duty Controller where you will be responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient support service for Train Operating Companies pre-planned and emergency rail replacement requirements.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in a role within the transportation industry, who has experience working within a contact or support centre environment.


You will be a part of the team who delivers effective rail replacement services for internal and external Train Operating Companies.

Respond to TOC (Train Operating Companies) requirements by sourcing, procuring and managing alternative road transport services.

Ensure that all services are closely monitored and tracked, ensuring that they are running smoothly in a timley manner.


You will also be responsible for the completion of paperwork involved in the day-to-day running of the department, whilst also writing and distributing incident reports where necessary.


Working closely with external agencies including Emergency Services and Network Rail as well as internal departments to ensure the smooth operation of the business.


  • Experience in a contact or support centre environment is essential, as well as a professional telephone manner.
Strong incident reporting capabilities as well as an attention to detail and strong computer literacy.

Familiarity with rules and regulations of both the railway and road transport industry would be ideal but not essential.

Good knowledge of UK geography would be ideal.

Someone who has the ability to work shifts, including occasional night shifts.
