Job summary:


The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme team are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Registered Nurse for the post of Specialist Screening Practitioner to assist with the day-to-day running of the service and the future expansion of the programme at Heartlands, Goodhope and Solihull Hospital.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

As an autonomous Specialist Screening Practitioner you will be responsible for managing your own caseload of Bowel cancer screening, covering pre-assessment, attending colonoscopy/sigmoidoscopy endoscopy sessions, CTVC, diagnosis, surveillance, MDT and results clinics.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital to support bowel screening patients through the pathway to ensure continuity of care within a wider multi-disciplinary team.

Promoting the service to improve uptake of screening is an important aspect of the role.

Qualifications:


Essential:


  • DipHE/ Degree Adult nursing
  • Current registration with NMC
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Willing to undertake the SSP University Course

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years post registration experience
  • Knowledge of data protection
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance
