  • This is an exciting opportunity to lead an operational team working in the upper River Aire and Calder catchment. You and your team will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of flood risk assets to ensure we can respond to flooding, continue to protect our communities and enhance our environment. Assets are anything from embankments and flood walls, to pumping stations and other river structures.

As a Team Leader you will manage a team budget, training programme, asset maintenance programme delivery and do on-site active monitoring to ensure your team are managing health and safety risks.

With people at the heart of everything we do, equality, diversity and inclusion will be essential to the development of your team.

You will inspire and create an inclusive environment to enable them to be their best.

And you'll be a valuable member of our Yorkshire Operations Leadership Team where together we will lead our approach to people's health, safety and wellbeing.

As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

If you enjoy leading a front-line team that really makes a difference, encouraging people to shine, and problem solving, there is no better role than the Field Operations Team Leader.

  • The teamThey have skills and training that means they are responsible for maintaining and operating our assets out in the field, often using specialist equipment.

It's a worthwhile place to be where you know the value and importance of your team's work every time it rains.

  • Experience/skills required
  • We want to hear about where you have led and inspired people to achieve great things.
  • You will have experience of managing risks, particularly regarding health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
  • You will be able to manage multiple priorities and competing demands to deliver work programmes.
  • Communication, teamwork and collaboration are key.
  • It is important that you are passionate about people, their development, and creating an inclusive environment.
  • Previous experience in flood risk and/or asset management and/or engineering and/or construction would be helpful, but a keen interest is more than acceptable too.
  • Contact and additional information
  • We're committed to being an inclusive organisation that reflects the diverse communities that we serve and therefore welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given the training and support you need to succeed.

This role is based in Leeds, however there may be future opportunities for other locations in Yorkshire through this recruitment process; if you are interested in the role please get in touch.

Interviews are scheduled to take place in February.
