We have an exciting opportunity for an Sports Turf & Golf Greenkeeping Course Manager to join our Apprenticeships Department at our York campus.

This role will be employed for 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.


We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for planning and delivering high quality training to an agreed teaching caseload, delivering a range of Golf Greenkeeping skills.

This role will involve visiting Apprentices in their workplace to carry out progress checks, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

Main Purpose of the role

  • To coordinate the training process for apprentices on programme, to ensure a high quality experience and timely achievement of the apprenticeship.
  • To carry out the responsibilities of a lecturer/trainer and assessor to an agreed caseload across a number of college sites
  • To provide regular and timely reports to the Head of Apprenticeships and comply with current funding and qualification requirements

Key Tasks / responsibilities:

All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation's culture.

  • To interview and conduct Initial Assessment for all prosepctive apprentices.
  • To engage employers and assist applicants in finding suitable employment.
  • To undertake contract setup visits to employers prior to the enrolment of apprentices.
  • To undertake health and safety reviews of employers premises and all related monitoring.
  • To plan and deliver induction programmes for all apprentices.
  • Ensure Individual Learning Plans/ Commitment Statements are in place for all apprentices on programme.
  • Prepare assessment plans in conjuction with the employer and learner
  • To coordinate the offjob training for apprentices, including Functional Skills.
  • Deliver high quality teaching to an agreed annual caseload.
  • To monitor, review and assess an appropriate caseload of apprentices on programme throughout the North of England.
  • Carry out the role of Internal Quality Assurance to an agreed caseload in line with programme requirements.
  • To identify support needs and arrange pastoral support for apprentices as required.
  • To ensure that all designated records/evidence is in place and maintained/ updated to comply with funding and qualification requirements, including the use of eportfolio and online learning platforms.
  • To liaise with the Head of Apprenticeships on all matters of curriculum development/ course evaluation and review
  • To monitor and report on the completion of all components of the Apprenticeship Programme
  • To chair and administer regular course team meetings and coordinate the delivery and assessment team to ensure timely apprenticeship completions.
  • To maintain a Course Team Rolling Action Plan and to complete the Annual Course Review
  • Manage and maintain learner morale and discipline working closely with college managers to assure an appropriate learning environment.
  • Carry out high quality Apprenticeship End Point Assessment for Land Based Assessments Limited to an agreed caseload.
  • Assist in the promotion of the College and recruitment for full and parttime courses
  • Contribute to a sensitive and supportive approach to equality and diversity.
  • Perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level or responsibility.
