Job Description Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operations and Safety Leader with expert knowledge for Offshore Service Operations.


Reporting to the Site Operations Manager you will enable the organisation through various safety improvements and initiatives that enable high performance delivery of SQDC targets in collaboration with our customers.

Primary location will be the Dogger Bank O&M Base at the Port of Tyne. #DB.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide EHS governance and expert EHS guidance for all operational activities carried out by GE at Dogger Bank.
  • Manage and ensure safe site maintenance operations are carried out, with high standards of quality, delivered to budget and according to the defined schedule, recording and tracking relevant KPI's and reporting on progress, deviations to plans and mitigation.
  • Provide guidance on the suitability of the documentation used by technicians in their daily scopes of work to ensure all checks required are captured and understood. Update documentation during incident and investigation reviews.
  • Review and evaluate preventative and corrective maintenance procedures, ensuring they are operationally deployable and have been assessed for suitability from a local EHS perspective.
  • Support with development and continual improvement of Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Manage the review of turbine work scopes to ensure risks are identified and have been correctly captured and mitigated prior to work execution.
  • Liaise with Client and offsite legislative bodies and provide reports as required concerning key metrics such as safety statistics, environmental performance, and incident reporting.
  • Management of the Health and Safety Plan for the windfarm. facilitating awareness of safety conditions into the operational plans and escalating deviations from expected standards and requirements.
  • Manage emergency response plans according to the local site and GE policies with the support of the required stakeholders.
  • Manage the communication of the latest GE safety, quality and local safety information and make sure the content is implemented into the relevant operational documentation.
  • Participate in process, quality and safety improvement initiatives and provide feedback on lessons learned to the site management team.
  • Support the development of systems and processes as required to deliver safe offshore maintenance.
  • Support the establishment of the competency framework and safe system of work governance process.
  • Attain the authorising Officer role under the Wind Turbine System Safety Rules and carry out the related responsibilities.
  • Maintain operational site compliance with respect to site rules, policies, and safe working practises by ensuring leading the development of the site inductions in conjunction with the other project EHS stakeholders.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting of the sites EHS performance, identifying and taking proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
  • Provide EHS guidance and support to the site teams as required, including assisting or steering incident investigations to ensure root cause is identified and embed all learnings within the daily work execution.
  • Manage the cadence and deployment of emergency drills and exercises with the site teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring detailed incident reports are produced for all EHS incidents.

Travel Expectations:


  • The role will be predominantly based at the Port of Tyne, South Shields.
  • The role requires international travel.
  • Ability and willingness to work offshore as required.

Education / Professional Experience:


  • Higher education in an EHS discipline or professional education / apprenticeship in a technical discipline with extensive professional experience.
  • Significant experience of Maintenance & Engineering operations.
  • Known ability to work in a crossfunctional, global environment, with remote teams as a solid team player who can enable change and get work over the line.

Language(s):


  • Fluency in English language

Technical knowledge and skills:


  • Successful Maintenance & Engineering experience.
  • High motivation level; selfstarter with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • High capability with various office and cloud based software.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and resolve problems in a structured manner.
