The focus of this Higher Specialty Trainee level fellowship post is to improve the local education and experience of the medical workforce, and to push key commitments to achieving CNST standards in Obstetrics.

The postholder will carry out a range of leadership and education tasks and take the lead on project(s) as agreed with the local sponsor to achieve this.

The role also has a focus on developing the postholder's own leadership and education capability.

This will be achieved through the work-based project(s) and a bespoke development programme including the Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Commissioning at BSMS.

The role includes a clinical component to enable the postholder to maintain and develop their clinical skills.

To commence in October 2024.


The post holder will be part of our Medical Education team and will carry out various projects / roles to support the education, training and improved experience of our junior doctors.

They will provide oversight and training to help the trust meet the criteria as set out by the Clinical negligence scheme for trusts (CNST standards) to improve access and quality of training for the multiprofessional team.


The role may include:

Leading work to improve educational delivery or experience for multiprofessional obstetric training

Participating in LFGs and organising and co-ordinating meetings between trainees and tutors

Leading work to improve junior doctor engagement with muliprofessional training

Leading or participating in work to address differential attainment

Delivering education and training for trainees, medical students or multi-professional groups

Providing simulated training sessions and design courses and clinical scenarios

developing training with a focus on patient safety including "lessons learned" and debrief for clinical incidents and near misses. These will be in keeping with trust incidents and aimed to provide evidence of learning from incidents

Co-ordinating senior and junior leadership projects

Developing leadership programmes, with particular reference to human factors training in obstetrics
