We have an exciting opportunity here at Timet, to join the Maintenance team within our Witton, Birmingham plant.


Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the role of the Maintenance Supervisor will support and give guidance to the maintenance department teams with regard to the day-to-day running of the shift and on technical issues.

The position is office based with a shop floor presence as and when required. Therefore it is imperative an excellent working knowledge of the plant and safety procedures is understood.


It is essential that the Maintenance supervisor drives and motivates the team in completing all planned jobs, breakdowns and all other work during that shift by ensuring all craftsmen are working effectively.


Essential Functions

  • Understanding their teams impact on meeting customers' expectations
  • Ensuring all jobs are completed on time, right first time and safely
  • Ensuring all paid hours are worked effectively
  • Ensuring that SAP feedback is accurate and that the detail is sufficient to support the building of detailed plant knowledge and history

Knowledge/Qualification/Education

  • An engineering apprenticeship in either mechanical or electrical engineering. A formal recognized qualification in an engineering discipline either mechanical or electrical.
  • ISOH health and safety qualification.
  • Minimum city and Guilds ideally qualified to HNC level or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering competencies to include Hydraulics, Pneumatics, vacuum systems, general heavy engineering practices and awareness.
  • Plant health and safety awareness, knowledge of NAK cooling systems and the safe handling and disposal of NAK. Lockout and isolation permit knowledge delivering safe lockout on highly complex plant and equipment.

  • Excellent all round plant knowledge with regard to production procedures, quality and all safety systems.
  • In depth knowledge of Engineering Codes of Practice, Permit to Work and emergency procedures
  • Good working knowledge of time and attendance system, to input level
