Have you got the skills and experience to work with both staff and patients at one of London's leading hospitals? Ever wanted to gain experience working within a healthcare setting? Help us to improve both the staff and patient experience as a member of our first Patient and Staff Enhancer (PaSE) team.


We're recruiting for a new and innovative, non-clinical role to provide support to staff, patients and their families and carers.

As a Patient and Staff Enhancer (part of the PaSE Team) you will provide valuable contribution to the day to day running of the clinical area, supporting staff and patients with a range of tasks.


You will build relationships and understanding with clinical and admin colleagues, providing the much needed support contributing to both the patient and staff experience.


You will report to and work with clinical staff within designated inpatient wards or clinical areas, with support from the PaSE team leaders.

Using your communication skills to provide a range of supportive tasks as needed, you will find no day is ever the same.


Offered either as full time or part time hours this role is a 9-month fixed term contract, and provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience working within a healthcare setting opening up a range of future opportunities.


  • Supporting ward areas with reception duties, including answering and dealing with telephone calls, making telephone calls and taking messages on behalf of clinical staff, updating notice boards.
  • Liaising with family and assisting with visiting for patients on the ward in line with the Trust visiting guidance.
  • Light administration duties including (but not limited to): updating PIMS, Next of Kin details, transferring notes, computer skills.
  • Pastoral support to patients, including sitting with and interacting with patients, offering and making drinks ( for those patients advised that this is appropriate to do so by the Registered Nurse), assisting patients with mobile phone use and accessing messages, and reading books or newspapers
  • Supporting with patient surveys and feedback
  • Cleaning equipment, touch points and bed area post patient discharge and making up beds/ area for admissions
  • Coordinating and ensuring the Computers on Wheels ("COWS") are charged and connected to Wi-Fi
  • Collecting or delivery of equipment and stock items to and from the ward/department as required.
  • Provide hospitality where requested and appropriate to do so e.g. refreshments under supervision or direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Supporting patients packing / unpacking property for admission, transfer and / or discharge and maintaining property records
