Key Accountabilities:
- Run the regular Cross Platform FinOps Working Group in order to promote cross cloud platform consistency and best practice as regards the deployment of cost and carbon optimised services
- Identify structural sources of wastage, develop plans and obtain buy in and sponsorship for optimisation
- Define, drive, track and report on identified structural cloud optimisation tactics and associated targets, with an objective to reducing cost
- Define the strategy for platforms to deploy FinOps fit products
- Produce and maintain guidance and criteria for the deployment of "FinOps Ready" cloud services for stakeholder workloads
- Produce optimisation recommendation reports and present findings the at working groups and governance forums
- Develop strategies and artefacts to enhance the transparency of shared cloud costs to the value streams and business
- Collate, analyse and prioritise cloud optimisation recommendations and calculate potential savings and benefits
- Coordinate with platform engineers to perform optimisation analysis and planning on the major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alicloud, Clients Internal Cloud)
- Work with value streams, platforms and the business, where appropriate, on architectural approaches to ensuring optimised consumption of cloud services
- Articulate the benefits of the embedding of cost optimisation approaches and related initiatives to stakeholders and governance forums
- Develop support tools and teaching aids to help value streams, platforms and the business, where appropriate, to understand their cloud spend patterns and areas for potential optimisation
- Provide inputs into optimisation execution, benefits tracking and business case creation
- Provide inputs into senior governance forums SBRs, ManCo, CEC, OpCo etc
Knowledge:
- Excellent understanding of the major cloud providers' product offerings and existing relationship with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alicloud)
- Excellent understanding and practical experience of the major cloud provider's consumption and pricing options, cost principles and cost drivers
- Good understanding and practical experience of Reserved Instances, Committed Use Discounts (CUDs), Savings Plans and any other optimisation proposals by all cloud providers
- Understanding of best practices in order to maintain and lead levels of governance and control
- Knowledge of Cloud Financial Operations concepts and best practices (preferably Certified FinOps Practitioner)
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Hands on experience with Cloudability or similar tool
- Strong analytical background with the ability to proactively create, interrogate, interpret and draw conclusion/clear next steps from a data set
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills with the ability to produce meaningful and accurate insights
- Ability to present and articulate analytics work effectively
- Strong attention to detail with regards to data quality and data management
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Strong ability and desire to problem solve
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others and drive a coordinated approach
- Strong cross-group collaboration and communication skills
- Experience working in agile environment
Job Type:
Temporary contract
Contract length: 6 months
Salary:
£310.66-£704.41 per day
