Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Animal Technician for our world class Farm facility in Tranent.

In this key role you will be responsible for the day to day organisation and supervision of a large group of technical staff conducting a range of critical studies assessing the safety and efficacy of new medical treatments.

Your responsibility will include the organising/scheduling of technical teams, monitoring their performance on project work, including conducting of annual appraisal and career progression assessments

An in-depth working knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, GLP & Health and safety are essential in this role.

You will assist the Unit Manager / Principal Technician in the day to day running of the unit and when required be prepared to deputise in their absence.

Competence in conducting and training in a broad range of technical techniques, combined with successful leadership of technical teams is advantageous in the role.

The following are responsibilities related to the Senior Animal Technician position:

You will be an experienced Leading Animal Technician who holds a Home Office Personal Licence for Farm Animals
A caring self motivated attitude to animal welfare and continuous improvement
A proven track record in the supervision of others and the ability to communicate effectively
Ability to lead by example, train and mentor others
Enthusiasm, work ethic and eagerness to learn.
Motivation to commit yourself to the demands of a busy working environment.
The ability to work independently as well as being a good team player
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and Provantis
Participation in Continuing Professional Development Courses

This is a Scale 5 position.
