About the role
An exciting opportunity for the position of Clinical Specialist - Infection Prevention in the BDI Urology Division has arisen. The role will focus on the South England Territory with some National travel.

You will be a key part of the Acute Infection Prevention Nursing Team, led by the National Sales Manager.

The role works closely with customers and the BD Urology Acute Team to create infection prevention solutions specifically targeting catheter-associatedurinary tract infections (CAUTI) and Antimicrobial Resistance control (AMR).

This will be primarily in the hospital environments.


Job description


Collaborating with customers, you will design and implement clinical audits across multiple departments and stakeholders within hospitals that we are engaged with.

You will collect audit data, analyse it, and present your findings to a range of stakeholdersincluding senior members of staff (Directors of Infection Prevention and Control, Chief Nurses, Directors of Finance, Clinical Procurement and a range of Clinical Leads).

You will manage customer training programmes, both clinical and product based.

This includes co-ordinating product evaluations (such as Bard Trays, Purewick and Vitascan) and implementing change programmes across multiple departments and stakeholders.

Itwill be essential to work in partnership with the sales team to meet company sales goals by driving product usage and compliance.


Main responsibilities will include:


  • Plan and implement catheterisation audit programmes;
  • Be responsible for the collection and maintenance of audit data for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organisation;
  • Liaise with NHS leadership groups to gain commitment, and ensure the effective and efficient programme delivery and pullthrough;
  • Connect with stakeholders to gain support for the programme and to solicit input to improve the programme;
  • Plan the delivery of the product training programmes (e.g. Bard Trays, PureWick and Vitascan) and activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the Urology Division;
  • Carry out new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organisation such as new product evaluations (e.g. Purewick);
  • Maintain forms and records to document programme activities in the CRM system (e.g. customer visits);
  • Work closely with Territory Managers to develop new accounts and deliver endtoend solutions that we provide;
  • Maintain personal travel budget and work within budget.

About you
The successful applicant will be an NMC Registered Nurse and will ideally hold a bachelor's degree. You will have a minimum of 3 year of patient care experience in a hospital setting. Demonstration of career progression, leadership roles, committee presence,and/or sister/charge nurse experience a plus.


As a clinical specialist you will be able to function independently with mínimal guidance or supervision and have excellent interpersonal skills.

You will have the ability to work in a sales environment along the sales team and will have the ability to collect,analyse and present clinical data.

You will have a professional attitude and appropriate business and clinical judgement in all aspects of this role.


Travel includes driving and overnights in hotels specific to the assigned territory in its entirety and additional travel may be required to cover conferences, open territories, and training assessments.

A full clean driving licence is essential.


This is a field-based position with the majority of time being spent in face to face interaction with BD customers.
