Trading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions - consumer media, and business-to-business media.

In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences, and other events.

Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in West London, Croydon, Fleet street, Devon and Dublin.


Metropolis Educationhas been promoting UK independent schools worldwide for nearly 25 years, providing unique targeted marketing for recruitment to domestic and international boarding and day schools. We represent approximately 200 UK private, boarding and day schools in the UK and help parents to understand which schools are best for their own children. Here at Metropolis Education, we have expert consultants on hand to provide impartial help and advice to help parents choose the best school for their children. Offering schools support with guides, digital promotion, overseas recruitment fairs, training, strategic advice and help as well as pupil recruitment we offer our partner schools a unique service enabling them to remain competitive.


Overall Purpose of the Role:

An exciting, varied role in a fast-moving environment where no two days are the same.

Working in a small team the Marketing, Communications and Event Co-ordinator will be responsible for the marketing of Metropolis education and its partner schools through social media, website updates and partner communications and the promotion, marketing, and logistics planning of our overseas events.

You will also be supporting the sales team with general admin, invoicing, logistics planning, communications, social media, web updates and client liaison.


Key responsibilities:


Sales Support/Admin:


  • Ensuring that all website pages are functioning and up to date with proactive updates.
  • Maintain partner school database.
  • Add press releases and open days to the relevant profile, ensuring wording and imagery are correct.
  • Ensure helpdesk forms are filled out correctly and sent to consultants.
  • Invoicing for events, training and other costs.
  • Creating 3 monthly newsletters that are distributed to our subscribers.
  • Send out guides to parents/potential/current/clients/MoD as and when necessary.
  • Liaise with design/production team to produce annual directories/guides.
  • Manage pictorial database (incl. good boarding, bad boarding, facilities, signage etc.)
  • Assist the team with the presentations for conferences, inset days, training days (Inc. Design, layout all materials for presentation into Prezi, PowerPoint, or other relevant format)
  • Liaise with DMA team to use google Analytics in generating useful data and stats for SEC's.
  • Help fulfil the sales strategy for promotional activity and deliver to relevant audiences.
  • Manage calls and admin queries.
  • Help to create promotional marketing documents and promote App and web.
  • Assist with travel bookings, hotels, and appointment confirmation.

Overseas Events:


  • Working with partner schools, visitors, and venues alike to deliver successful pupil recruitment fairs overseas (Paris, New York, Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, Rio etc.)
  • Assist in the safe running of the event in country (Overseas travel included/approx. 6 overseas trips per year).
  • Venue sourcing and management research, liaison and contracts for all UK and international events.
  • Managing a budget and ensuring the correct profit %
  • Delegate management communicating with delegates pre, during and postevent.
  • Speaker liaison assisting with event joining instructions and presentation specifications.
  • Event marketing working alongside our social media marketers to ensure each audience is targeted in the most effective way.
  • International logistics liaising with agents, and contacts incountry to help boost event awareness within the market and gain local knowledge.

Social Media:


  • Ensure that we create a strong and positive message promoting our partner schools and boarding in the UK to potential parents, agents and partners.
  • Create, manage and deliver social media content plan.
  • Maximise reach from social media platforms.
  • Monitor received content uploading to relevant social media platform.

Skills and experience:


  • Strong IT (excel/word/powerpoint/prezi) and social media skills/experience. Design experience would be advantageous.
