About the Role

***We are seeking to appoint an Administrative Officer (Academic Services), who can demonstrate relevant experience in administrative systems, preferably gained in a higher education context. You will be instrumental in supporting Academic Services to uphold the School's strategic objectives and will work closely with colleagues and managers internally to WBS and throughout the wider University community. This role represents an excellent opportunity for you to both hone and expand your existing skills, and to further your professional development in a high performing team that thrives in a challenging and stimulating environment.


The role is broad ranging, offering the opportunity to contribute to quality assurance, governance and academic operations as well as the potential to input into strategic projects.

Specifically, you will provide administrative support to the Quality Assurance, Policy and Governance Manager (QAPGM) and the Director of Academic Services in the area of academic operations primarily including academic conduct and plagiarism, programme development and quality assurance, and also supporting other areas including examinations management, Boards of Examiners and External Examiner engagement.

The postholder will work closely with the other Administrative Officers in Academic Services. The role being advertised is the Administrative Officer in the area of academic conduct and Quality Assurance (including course/ module approval.


About You

***You will be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills (including producing and presenting reports for senior managers), and exceptional interpersonal skills, being able to deal appropriately, diplomatically and sensitively with advising colleagues and students about School and University policies, processes and procedures.


You should be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and analyse operational problems and challenges, and to draft and present appropriate/ innovative solutions, combined with the ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure and to forward-plan effectively, flexibly and realistically.

You should have the ability to motivate others, provide constructive staff management to line reports, operate effectively as a team member or independently, and to initiate and delegate whilst maintaining efficient and timely workload organisation practices.

You must have an honours degree or equivalent qualification with a postgraduate qualification to Masters -level being advantageous. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working in a higher education environment.
