Job summary

The purpose of the Central Admin hub is to encourage a collaborative environment of learning and innovation within a single geographical location supporting a group of GP practices


Effective and efficient administration is vitally important to help patients to move onto the next step in their healthcare journey safely and to provide them with access to the right information about their health when they need it.


This is achieved by the effective handling (and standardisation) of clinical documentation, patients paper records and parts of the registration process, non-NHS private work related to the patient as well as other administrative tasks.

This administration should be processed in a timely, safe, and efficient manner, following set protocols, ensuring that medical records are kept up to date.

The rate of pay is £11.44 per hour and will be a 30 hour week. You can benefit from either an NHS or Nest Pension.

Main duties of the job

  • Identify the complex or higher risk areas that require input or knowledge from the clinical team, including safeguarding issues and working to the agreed practice protocols.
  • Processing Lab results within EMIS, following agreed protocols and standard operating procedures, ensuring safe and effective practice. Working closely with clinical leads if and when required to provide a safe and highquality service to the practice
  • Partake in training sessions for, and be competent in the summarising of patients Lloyd George medical records and supporting registration processes, following agreed protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Partake in training sessions for, and be competent in in the completion of correspondence relating to nonNHS private work, following agreed protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Receive feedback positively on your own performance and the teams performance.
  • Both through the GP Lead(s) and directly, work closely with practice administrators and clinical teams to ensure that a safe and highquality service for the practice is provided.

  • Work to an agreed workplan for the assigned tasks, following the agreed timeframes. Ensure that any shortfalls in capacity or increases in demand are escalated so that any administrative tasks are processed within the agreed timescales.
  • Be part of undertaking new trials to test ideas for improvement and development within your role and team
  • Be flexible in approach to work and demonstrate a willingness to support other areas of the business administratively as directed.
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential

  • You will have experience in an administrative role in general practice or in a healthcare environment.
  • You will have a good knowledge of medical terminology and preferably Read coding, although training will be given.
  • Ability to process varying types of correspondence including letters of a high complexity and containing risk issues and identified accurately and taken action.
  • Ability to adapt to use different software systems for varying administrative tasks and/or have the capacity to be trained
  • Established experience with successful audits of your work with good knowledge of medical terminology read coding and completion of all administration tasks required or the capacity to be fully trained in these areas
