We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Senior Planner to join our
Area 7 account in
Nottingham. This role will be based
on-site 3 days a week at
Sandiacre Motorway Depot, Bostocks Lane, Nottingham, NG10 5ND.


Working with National Highways, Amey maintain over 700 kilometres of roads across the East Midlands, ensuring the 4.5 million citizens across the East Midlands experience better journeys every day.


We provide maintenance and response across a vast area of some of the UK's busiest motorways and strategic highways across the east midlands and north of England.

As many as 180,000 vehicles a day use certain sections of this vital network.

Our 200+ Amey people provide vital maintenance and respond to incidents to keep the travelling public moving.


The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, on a hybrid basis)

You will be responsible for:


  • Lead a high performing team of Planners/Pre Works-Coordinators who are responsible for the coordination of reactive maintenance activities in the East Midlands.
  • Guide the team to identify areas for improvement, drawing on industry best practice where appropriate and support them to embed their learning within their sphere of influence
  • Liaise between Amey, the Client and third parties to realise maximized benefits of road space sharing during planned/reactive maintenance and scheme works.
  • Ensure the data necessary for the measurement of Key Performance Indicators are collected and that appropriate monthly reports are prepared
  • Prepare monthly performance and progress reports for submission to the Senior Management Team and the Client.
  • Ensure all necessary related Quality Management and Health and Safety documentation is reviewed periodically, updated accordingly, and is adhered to by all team members.
  • Liaise with the Operational teams to ensure that decisions/directions are consistent with the achievement of quality, safety, programme, and financial objectives
  • Manage, develop, coach, and motivate employees in the team
  • Consistently seek and lead business improvement projects to innovate the way of working
  • Maintain and develop key client contacts to collaborate and build strong working relationships

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in cost planning, resource management and rostering systems
  • Experience of highways maintenance operations
  • Experience to lead and implement new planning processes
  • Experienced to mentor and ability to identify and share best practice
  • Experience of highways maintenance operations
  • Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular excel) and preferably Microsoft Project, plus other tools/systems as defined by the project or client
  • Good all round project management knowledge
  • Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail and meticulous approach
