  • Job description

  • Looking for an exciting, challenging career where your work can change the world? Our Radioactive Substances Regulation Apprenticeship (including a Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Level 6) could be for you. This entry level role is suitable for early career job seekers or career changers.

We recruit curious minds to help tackle global challenges, including regulating the next generation of nuclear power stations to address the climate emergency and meet net zero, or the use of novel cancer treatments using radioactivity.

This apprenticeship is perfect for those who have a background or interest in science, technology, engineering and maths. You'll have a permanent contract, receive a wealth of benefits and outstanding training.
Why choose an apprenticeship?
There's nothing like an apprenticeship to give you the big picture and a great launchpad. Unlike university, apprenticeships are the perfect way to immerse yourself in the industry and gain hands-on paid work experience.

No matter your background, this apprenticeship will equip you with sought-after skills, practical experience and technical learning to give you everything you need for a successful career.

We're partnering with Blackpool & the Fylde College who provide a 5-year programme where you will gain a degree as you work alongside experienced engineers and scientists from the Environment Agency.

The programme comprises a Foundation Degree and BEng (Hons) Nuclear Engineering, awarded by Lancaster University.
Programme includes; nuclear principles, engineering principles, engineering and project management, and nuclear physics.

You will have access to the college's state of the art engineering and software simulation facilities that will embed the concepts of Nuclear Engineering.

Block week study in Blackpool will be required.
Please see the Additional Information Pack for more information about the apprenticeship and the work you will be doing as a Radioactive Substances Regulation (RSR) Apprentice within the EA
