The Role:


Provide detailed, specialist knowledge and direction to S&B Development, Delivery and Asset Management Teams on Grid Code Compliance, Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), Balancing Mechanism Units (BMU), Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC).

Be the Subject Matter Expert for the business, keeping abreast of policy changes and their applicability.

Ensure the portfolio of Solar and Battery assets are developed in-line with Grid Code.

Become a Responsible Person on behalf of S&B under the ELEXON BSC process.

Your understanding of the energy market, transmission and distribution code, balancing and settlement code and REMIT Regulations will play a crucial role in driving and increasing our success, and in doing so, drive business growth


What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Understanding of the purpose of the Markets Regulation and Group Compliance department and its key activities/functions and how it interacts with the businesses across the SSE Group
  • Broad understanding of the regulatory and compliance and governance framework under which SSE operates and the associated risks it faces and a desire to learn more
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Grid Code, BSC, CUSC and REMIT
  • Knowledge of ELEXON system and authorisation codes
  • Understanding of UK Electricity System Operation (Transmission and Distribution)
  • Understanding of Energy Market Trading
  • Ability to interpret complex regulation/industry codes/legal drafting
