Are you looking to support academy finance and administration? Join us as a Finance Assistant Apprentice at Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park.

We have a new opening for a dedicated and organised individual with interest and or experience in financial administration to support our thriving academy.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting money from students in connection with academy trips, uniforms or other necessary payments
  • Ensuring all orders are processed through the academy's accounting system
  • Aiding teachers and budget holders in sourcing the best and most costeffective resources
  • Obtaining authorisation, coding and posting the purchase invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger
  • Raising and issuing sales invoices and maintaining the debtor's ledger, ensuring collection of monies owed on a timely basis
  • Raising BACS payments for purchase invoices in accordance with payment run deadlines and ensuring correct approval process
  • Making payments (grants and academy trips etc) and keeping appropriate records
  • Reconciling the petty cash on a weekly basis and ensuring correct protocol is adhered to
  • Academy banking and posting of bank receipts
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
  • Dealing with queries both internal and external
  • Ensuring an appropriate filing system is maintained

Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualifications to Level 3 or above (A level or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of a variety of financial recording systems
  • At least one year's experience working in a finance department
  • Experience of working within financial controls
  • Experience of assisting with budget setting and budget management
