This post is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join the Health & Safety Manual Handling Team within the Workforce Directorate.

You will be based at Kings Cross Hospital but be required to travel throughout Tayside.


We are looking for an adaptable individual who is already an experienced manual handling trainer for their local area who are looking to develop their manual handling, ergonomic and risk management skills further.

Management experience is advantageous but not essential.


The post holder will oversee the daily operational running of the department and provide direction and support to an enthusiastic and skilled team.


Therefore, you must be able to:

demonstrate excellent, leadership, good communication and facilitation skills to promote and sustain the delivery of a high standard of training and support of significant numbers of staff in manual handling link roles.

In this role, you will work with the manual handling team to ensure the delivery of training to student nurses from the University of Dundee and Abertay University, NHS Tayside staff, as well as, external clients.


You will also be expected to assist NHS Tayside to meet its responsibilities under Health & Safety legislation in relation to the management of manual handling risks at work.

This is primarily a training role, but will also involve giving advice and practical support to staff on manual handling issues that arise.


You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills alongside possessing good IT and organisational skills that are required for the ongoing development of learning materials.

You will be required to give evidence of ongoing learning and development and will be expected to participate in continuous learning and development suited to the area of training and manual handling.

You must hold a professional qualification: such as, registered nurse, allied health professional or dental nurse.

You will have to evidence relevant work experience in the management of manual handling risks and be confident and credible in developing and making presentations.


You should have a professional clinical practice record which matches the skills and experience necessary to function as a Lead Corporate Manual Handling Practitioner.
