Firewall Security Consultant

As a Barclays Firewall Security Consultant, you will be an integral part of the Firewall Security Team.

In this role, you will continue to make the Barclays environment a safer place to do business by supporting Skybox policy configuration with the assigned Skybox SME, adhering to compliance requirements and providing ad-hoc security advice to projects relating to firewall and proxy activity.

This will be the ideal opportunity for someone with a detailed understanding of all firewall types.

What will you be doing?

  • You will become an SME on the Skybox firewall security toolset
  • Enforcing security and control objectives adhering to Standards, Policies and Procedures
  • Meeting the requirements of key internal and external stakeholders where appropriate
  • Assessing change integrity in architecture design, firewall/proxy deployment and rule implementations
  • Performing gatekeeper role for all firewall and proxy infrastructure related change activities adhering to SLA's and priorities
  • Developing and maintaining a deep knowledge of company security policy and business risk appetite
  • Identifying potential security risks and minimising security risk exposure to the organisation
  • Proactively being involved with the internal supplier in the signoff process prior to live deployment; attendance of technical forums

What we're looking for:


  • Deep understanding of security solutions and designs from a people, process and technology perspective; including security technologies, controls & assessment methodologies
  • Excellent relationship, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Indepth knowledge of network security; knowledge of wellknown ports, protocols, and associated vulnerabilities

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Security qualification (e.g. CISSP)
  • Network qualifications
  • Knowledgeable about existing best practice for integration of security controls

Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford.

The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
