Hoop Professional Services are working with a well-established manufacturing organisation who are looking to expand their finance team to include a cost accountant.

The role is a vital hire for the team and will provide essential information to the management team and wider business.

They are looking for someone with a cost accounting and general finance background as they need someone to pick up some of the more technicalfinance function if there is sickness or absence by the Finance Executive.


Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing line profitability
  • Identify and investigate purchase price and material use variances.
  • Analyse organisational data to assess labour rates, overheads etc and recommend costing policies
  • Perform month end cost accounting close
  • Produce inventory valuation reports and analysis and validate inventory valuations
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports
  • Review company accounting policies (stock valuations, slow moving stock provisions, warranty provisions, depreciation methods etc)
  • Support with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Report on performance against budget
  • Challenge and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Assist with ad hoc finance tasks

Person specification:

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or part qualified (essential)
  • Good system, IT and Excel knowledge including PowerBI (desirable)
  • A background in high product volume manufacturing (essential)
  • Sound experience analysing P&L and costings
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
