We are searching for a committed and resourceful Part-Time Community Outreach Programme Associate to drive our Intergenerational Reading Clubs initiative.
In this role, you will establish connections with local schools, parents, and volunteers, creating a collaborative environment where primary school children receive reading support while older individuals gain digital literacy skills.
This position requires approximately 5 hours per week.Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with local schools in Bromley and Lewisham boroughs to identify children who would benefit from reading support.
- Engage parents and guardians, highlighting the value of our Intergenerational Reading Clubs in enhancing children's literacy skills.
- Develop relationships with schools to ensure the programme aligns with their curricular goals and educational needs.
- Connect with retired individuals, grandparents, and community members interested in learning digital skills.
- Organise workshops to teach basic digital technology skills to volunteers, creating a supportive learning environment.
- Coordinate and facilitate one Intergenerational Reading Club session per week at each site (total of two sessions per week).
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the Intergenerational Reading Clubs and attract families and volunteers.
- Monitor attendance and collect feedback to measure the impact of the programme.
- Prepare brief reports showcasing the success stories of the programme.
- Stay updated with trends in education, digital literacy, and community engagement.
Requirements:
- Passion for education, community engagement, and intergenerational learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with parents, volunteers, and school representatives.
- Experience in community outreach, programme coordination, or volunteer management.
- Proficiency in digital technology and the ability to teach basic digital skills.
- Organisational skills to manage workshop logistics and reading club sessions.
- Empathy and patience, particularly when working with children and older individuals.
- Selfmotivated with the ability to manage responsibilities within approximately 5 hours per week.
- Familiarity with local schools, education systems, and community dynamics in Bromley and Lewisham boroughs.
