Job Summary:

Document Management, coding The GP Assistant helps free up GP time by ensuring administrative tasks are performed promptly and accurately.

They will join our document processing team to ensure the timely actioning of incoming correspondence, coding of clinical data and other administrative duties.

This PCN role (North Norfolk NN3) will be based at Drayton Medical Practice.


Key Responsibilities:

Processing incoming correspondence and clinical read coding To process incoming post, including opening, sorting, scanning and processing as per practice policies and procedures To process incoming electronic documents Assist in researching and implementing new processes and digital tools to help increase the efficiency of document management and the accurate extraction and coding of key clinical information To ensure that easily identifiable clinical content, usually investigation data, is entered into the practice computer system to help with QOF achievement and general good practice guidelines.

Ensure all information is recorded accurately and timely onto the Practices computer systems. Other administrative duties as required To be willing to undertake other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.

In undertaking this role the GPA must:
Ensure patient and practice confidentiality is always maintained. Ensure computer security is preserved when not at your screen and maintain password security.


Secondary Responsibilities In addition to the primary responsibilities, the GPA may be requested to: Review and update the practice coding policy as required Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead.

Any other duties commensurate with skills and responsibilities.

The GPA will also be required to:
Participate in an annual individual performance review. Track and record evidence of their experience against the national competency framework.

Inform their line manager /lead GP of any concerns regarding their role and request professional development as needed. Be aware of their professional boundaries and what to do when they are reached.

Additional Responsibilities In addition to the primary and secondary responsibilities, the GPA may be asked to complete HEEs accredited training programme, aligned to the competency framework, equipping them with formal certification of their learning.
