Job summary:


The Portfolio Support Officer supports the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) manager / Deputy Portfolio Leader, in managing the delivery of the Transformation portfolio objectives that will deliver the Dstl-wide strategic change initiatives, and will provide direct support to the Transformation Programme mangers.


The role of the Portfolio Support Officer (PSO) covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of portfolio and programme objectives.

The Portfolio Support Officer enables the smooth running of the portfolio by supporting the Deputy Portfolio Manager and Programme Managers through the operation of portfolio and programme management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.

Job description:


In this role you will have the following responsibilities:
Supporting the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Manager / Deputy Portfolio Lead in maintaining the Project Management administration for Transformation portfolio


This includes:

  • Planning and scheduling


  • Monitoring and reporting

  • Assist, establish and manage portfolio and programme controls, reporting to the Portfolio Manager.


  • Admin

  • Efficently carry out organisational tasks as required. Manage compliance of the portfolio with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.


  • Resources

  • Lead a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Programme Manager.


  • Stakeholder

  • Networking and engaging with other people involved in delivery, sharing good practice and lessons learned.


  • Financial control

  • Manage and monitor portfolio spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets. Contribute to the programme business case.


  • Risks and Issues

  • Maintain risks and issues log, working with risk manager and escalating as appropriate.


  • Knowledge management

  • Maintaining Sharepoint sites and ensuring version control and appropriate use of other knowledge management tools.

Important Information


This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
