We are looking for a Medical Secretary, who preferably has experience of working within a Primary Care setting.

The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive secretarial service and must be able to use their own initiative, work under pressure, keep to deadlines and have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.


The role provides general secretarial support to the Practice, Doctors, and Health Professionals, involving word processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work.


Key Responsibilities

  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for Doctors and Health Professionals to secondary care and other providers. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and quality manner.
  • Update and maintain electronic referral templates and standard letters
  • To assist the practice management team with all clerical and administrative duties
  • Liaise with outside agencies and secondary care to make hospital appointments, bookings and admissions as required To receive incoming, and initiate outgoing telephone calls, in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries
  • To arrange and attend meetings, take minutes as required, including via Microsoft Teams, and record attendances

Experience
Medical Secretary: 1 year (desirable)


Essential

  • Excellent keyboard and IT skills, including digital dictation/audio typing
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a methodical and logical manner
  • Previous secretarial experience High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
