£210 per day
My client a Council are looking to recruit an Information Governance Officer on a temporary 60-day contract.

The role is to support and advise key business stakeholders undertaking projects and change, managing information rights requests and data sharing, as well as giving advice on compliance queries from other teams.


Areas of Responsibility:

  • Acknowledge, record and track responses to statutory requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or the Data Protection Act 2018 to ensure service standards and statutory deadlines are met.
  • Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments and provide ongoing advice and support to
projects.

  • Provide practical riskbased advice on data protection and freedom of information matters in
conjunction with the team, seeking support from senior team members as needed.

  • Use plain English and adopt the 'tone of voice' so your written and verbal communications are appropriate to your audience.
  • Work with challenging internal and external stakeholders through effective use of communications and knowing when to escalate for support, in particular to receive timely updates on information requests.
  • Consider and review responses to requests from third parties like the Police or NHS.
  • Help manage data security incidents and undertake lessons learned with business areas.
  • Maintain the disclosure log, ensuring that FOI responses are regularly reviewed and
- published where appropriate.

  • Maintain the publication scheme to ensure that it complies with the requirements of the FOIA.
  • Contribute to policies relating to FOIA and DPA and the voluntary release of information.
  • Support projects to improve the compliance with the UK GDPR and Data
  • Protection Act 2018.

Essential

  • The ability to work with challenging stakeholders and still achieve timely and positive results.
  • The ability to quickly learn from the team to increase your experience and knowledge, and to take on feedback for your development.
  • Proven experience of working in a role with Information Governance or related responsibility.
  • Experience of independently managing a caseload, ideally for Information Governance work.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize your work.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide high quality and accurate work with good attention to detail.
  • Approachable and able to foster good working relationships within the organization.

Desirable

  • Specialist qualifications in related disciplines such as Information Technology, Information Security, Data and Information Management or Freedom of Information.

  • Experience of contributing to technology projects.
  • An understanding of computing law and the common law duty of confidentiality
