About the role:


As a Trainee Financial Accountant, you will be working within a highly experienced team, supporting with all aspects of Financial Accounting.

Full study support is offered to attain ACCA and on the job training and development will be provided. The role is fast paced, with lots of opportunity for learning and professional development.


Key Responsibilities include:


  • Support the Finance Manager and Financial Controller to deliver the yearend statutory accounts for presentation to the board and then filing with Companies House.
  • Delivery of FCA reporting for internal review before submission
  • Support the Finance Manager on technical matters, including writing reports and training core team members.
  • Continual review of Internal Controls and processes, implementing the improvements and training out where needed.
  • To prepare year end schedules to support the statutory audit with the external auditors.
  • To support the management accounts team with the technical accounting over complex balance sheet transactions.
  • To support the Financial Controller and CFO with the Due Diligence of Acquisitions
  • To be a key contact on the year end audit, working with the management accounts team to complete the management accounts with statutory adjustments.
  • To model corporation tax for the group
  • To model and support VAT for the group
  • Ad hoc duties or reporting as required by Finance Team.

About you:


You are driven and enthusiastic about professional development and looking for a business to support you in your aspiration of becoming a Chartered Accountant.

You have an Accountancy degree and are looking for your first role following graduation.

You are self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

You are well organised and analytical, allowing you to continually review internal controls and processes, implement improvements and training whilst managing business demand.

You have strong financial acumen and exceptional attention to detail. You are well organised and have excellent time management skills. You are a confident communicator, able to effectively explain complex financial reports to a range of key stakeholders.


Essential skills and experience

  • Accounting/Finance degree
  • Committed to continuous professional development
  • Understanding of Financial Statements / Year end accounts
  • Ability to communicate complex financial reports
  • Well organised, accurate and with high attention to detail
  • First class time management skills
  • Ability to forward plan and manage business demands and expectations
  • Strong communications skills

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience working within Financial Services
  • Experience of acquisitions would be advantageous

Salary and benefits
£25,000 - £30,000 - depending on experience and qualifications
