Job summary:


The Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.


The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Guarding (DSPG) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield.

The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down - a newly built state of the art campus in Hampshire.

This role sits within Food services Training wing (FSTW), providing Training support. DSLA is seeking a Warehouse optative to sit within the Rations /Technical store, supporting/delivering to Chefs at FSTW.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:

The Food Services Training Wing are looking to recruit a Technical/Rations Stores person. You will be responsible to the Senior Storekeeper for the smooth running of the stores.


Working in a department which is always in demand by Instructors and students alike, you will be able to work with a team but able to act on your own initiative too.


Main responsibilities and duties are normal daily activity including layout and cleanliness of the store, checking receipts and documentation, issuing and documentation of all stores both manual and computer based, the preparation and consolidation of items requiring to be conditioned, maintaining stores records and registers and assisting with various stores checks and other duties as directed by the senior storekeeper.

This is a Physically Demanding role with a lot of have lifting up to 20 KG.

You will be able to Juggle multiple tasks and be able to jump from one job to the other.


Person specification:


Specific duties of the Warehouse Operative include:

  • Assists in the storage, issue and maintenance of catering equipment and stores and associated areas used to deliver catering training to Food Services Training Wing students.
  • Carryout duties in accordance with Departmental Standing orders and associated publications
  • Assists in the unloading and checking of equipment into the technical /Ration stores
  • Ensures that the items are stacked safely and correctly
  • Ensures equipment maintenance schedule is adhered to in line with unit and MoD directives
  • Assists in the assembly of equipment and Food as per course schedule, to all departments within FSTW
  • Adheres to MoD Health & Safety policy
  • Assists in the delivery of stores throughout FSTW as required
  • Operates a pedestrian operated palletizer
  • Assist in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the department
  • Ensures that protective clothing & equipment regulations are adhered to
  • Assist other storekeepers, when required or directed
  • Equipment Care duties
  • Operate efficiently, the Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) managed accounts, including Demands, Issues and Receipt of materiel accurately and efficiently, in accordance with inService Regulations (Defence Logistics Framework)
