Fixed term (22 month contract)

Full time (35 hours per week)


We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow for project funded by MRC exploring how obesity leads to B cell dysfunction and increase susceptibility to infection.


The Opportunity:


Working in a lab led by Dr Cécile Bénézech, you will conduct original research aimed at understanding the origin of adipose tissue B cells in human, and how their function is impacted by obesity.

This exciting opportunity will involve state of the art techniques such as single cell RNA sequencing combined with Ig repertoire analysis, antibody cloning and validation of findings in pre-clinical models of infection.


The lab conducts innovative research investigating the role of the immune system in physiological processes and how its dysregulation contributes to the development of chronic pathologies.

You will benefit from a collaborative and stimulating environment providing you with opportunities for collaborations and further professional development.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Appropriate degree with relevant post-graduate research experience. Usually a PhD (or PhD near completion) in Immunology/Physiology or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience.
  • Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL) for working with mice.
  • Prior experience of bioinformatic analysis (RNAseq dataset).
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally, and in writing.
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field or specialism, and update skill base within the defined research area.
