Teaching Assistant (SEN School) - Full-Time

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs? Do you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills? We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a reputable SEN school in Carnforth.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and well-being of children with special educational needs, while working in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide onetoone and group support to students with special educational needs, ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing within the classroom setting.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in their academic and social development, including assisting with reading, writing, and other classroom activities.
  • Help students with personal care needs, as required, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, reporting any concerns or observations to the class teacher or SEN coordinator.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and other staff members to enhance the learning experience and promote the overall wellbeing of students.

Requirements:


  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the development and wellbeing of students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • A positive and proactive approach to problemsolving and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
