Job summary:

The UK's minimum credible independent nuclear deterrent, assigned to the defence of NATO, is the foundational component of our national security.

It ensures that potential adversaries can never use their capabilities to threaten the UK or our NATO allies or to deter us from taking the action required to maintain regional and global security and stability.

In a more contested and volatile world, our nuclear deterrent is as important as it has ever been.

The Defence Nuclear Organisation is responsible for delivering the nuclear deterrent and oversees the Defence Nuclear Enterprise - all the organisations, programmes and people involved in that endeavour.

We work in close partnership with the Royal Navy, who have operated the Continuous At Sea Deterrent for over 60 years.

We are currently undertaking an historic investment in our nuclear deterrence capability to ensure we are ready to face the threats of the future.

This includes building the new Dreadnought class of submarines and replacing our nuclear warheads. These are some of the biggest, most complex, and most technologically advanced programmes ever undertaken.

Here at DNO we strongly believe that diversity and inclusion is not only the right thing to do but is also essential for a thriving and successful organisation.

We know that diverse teams bring a wide range of perspectives, experiences and ideas, which lead to better decision-making, creativity and innovation.

We have a culture where differences are celebrated and our people feel supported, included and empowered.

Join us and be part of an organisation that truly values diversity and inclusion and makes a positive impact on the world.

NATO and International team
We are recruiting for a C2/HEO Policy Adviser in the NATO & International team.

The team works through NATO and bilaterally with NATO Allies to influence NATO's nuclear strategy in support of UK and NATO defence and deterrence aims.

As one of the three NATO Allies that possess nuclear weapons and one of only two nuclear weapons states (alongside the US) that participates in NATO's Nuclear Planning Group, the UK plays an important role in influencing the NATO agenda and encouraging NATO nuclear adaptation and decision-making as means of maintaining an effective nuclear deterrence posture.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
