An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Medicine Directorate for the position of Admin Assistant / Support Medical Secretary.

This is a fixed term, part time role of 26 hours per week, based in the Diabetes Centre at Sandwell Hospital.

To support m e d i c a l s e c r e t a r i a l t e a m s t o process administration elements
to enable all service users' needs to be arranged in an order to deliver the 18
week pathway and support the 18 week pathway delivery plan including:

  • Typing and proof reading letters
  • Ensuring that actions set out in clinical letters are followed up, escalated or completed
  • Escalating results to consultants on receipt
  • Updating appropriate systems with patient access information
  • Support patient tracker to progress patient pathways.
  • Support service with timely referral triage
  • To book appointments in trusts approved/standardised manner


This is a pivotal time to join the Trust and the Community Medicine directorate with the future opening of the brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and the focused work on delivering on our core purpose and vision - to improve life chances and health outcomes and be the most integrated healthcare organisation in the country.

The specialties that sit within the Community Medicine Directorate include Rheumatology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Clinical Immunology/Allergy, MIS, Dermatology, Anticoagulation service, Sexual health and Chemical Pathology.
