Description
Our client is a specialist supplier of high-grade fresh produce for the Fresh and processed markets within the UK.
An exciting opportunity exists for a QA Technologist. The position will be based on the East of Scotland.
This role purpose is to exceed customer's expectations by supporting growers and packhouses in delivering great tasting produce.


The role:
To check and monitor the quality of our berries at harvest and packing
To communicate effectively within the company, Commercial and Supply chain in particular, on what is being found on farms and any implications for customer suitability and customer programs
To troubleshoot any harvest quality problems on our growers' farms
To support our packhouses in understanding customer quality requirements
To assess root causes and trends based on customer feedback, in order to implement data-driven quality improvement
To ensure high standards of field hygiene are kept and maintained, including by training and by auditing.
To uphold high ethical standards as part of the Angus Soft Fruits Ethical Program
To contribute to the evolution of the companies ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, moving towards further paperless data reporting in all attributes of quality
To collate customer quality samples
To co-ordinate any customer quality visits
To ensure growers have clear feedback on any quality issues, including routine sharing of quality data that can help them benchmark their own business
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role
To proactively participate in individual performance management process, achieving SMART targets and continuous personal developments
To fully participate in the development and achievement of the Technical Departmental Vision

Practical experience in quality management of fresh produce
Previous trained in Food Hygiene and HACCP
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritise and self manage effectively
Ability to use initiative and work part as a team
Attention to detail and accuracy
Full, clean driving licence
Ability to travel routinely to all our Scottish locations

What's on offer?

A starting salary between £28,000 - £35,000
Hours: 8.30 am - 5pm Mon - Fri. Potential additional hours including weekend on-call as required
Annual leave - 29 days per year (Jan-Dec) Inc. bank holidays
Your birthday is given as a paid day off each year.
