Pracitioner Manager - Vale of Glamorgan Council - Intake Team - Children's Services - Up to £50ph (LTD)


The Vale of Glamorgan Child and Young People Serivces is looking for a Practitioner Manager (assistant manager) for out Intake Team.

This is to cover the current post holder acting up into the Team Manager role, pending permanent recruitment.


Workers in this team need to be able to be able to offer empathetic support to families who have just been referred to Child and Young People Services.

Families in these circumstances are often in crisis and as such workers need to be calm, and child focussedwhen things are unpredictable.

It is crucial that the post holder is able to support workers to de-escalate concerns and offer effective help, managing risk confidently at the front door.


This team completes a range of assessments, conducts section 47 enquiries and establishes whether longer term plans are needed for families.

They also are involved in issuing court proceedings where needed.

The priority for this team is assessing what isneeded to support children and families, if anything and then moving this support to the right team.

Families will also be transferred to our family support teams if intervention is longer than 3 months and

There are 6 social workers, 4 social care officers and business support to help with the work in this team
